Scent of Stillness

Scent of Stillness, 2024
Oil on Canvas
11.5" x 14"
This monochromatic portrait captures a quiet moment: a girl gently inhaling the scent of roses, eyes closed, fully immersed in the present. Created using only burnt umber and titanium white, this piece was an exploration of mood, texture, and emotion through a restrained palette. The simplicity of the colors allowed me to focus on light, shadow, and expression, emphasizing the softness of the moment and the intimacy between the figure and nature.
This work was part of my continued experimentation with oil paint, using limited materials to evoke depth, warmth, and a sense of timelessness.

(This was a miniature study done on a separate piece of paper)
